Russian Race Walking Team Championship

On 13 February, Sochi Autodrom hosted Russian Race Walking Team Championship. Athletes, including winners and medallists, record holders of the Olympic Games, as well as the European Championship, fought for victory on 35 and 20 km distances. The Sochi Autodrom starting straight that day became the arena for a fight between the best walkers from all over Russia.

The men’s 20 km podium was exactly the same as last year. Vasily Mizinov (Chelyabinsk Region), a 2019 World Championship silver medallist, a European Championship bronze medallist, a Tokyo Olympic Games participant celebrated the win with 1:21:21. Another world vice-champion (2017) on this distance Sergey Shirobokov (Republic of Mordovia, Udmurt Republic) again finished second with 1:21:49. Anton Kurbatov (Republic of Mordovia, Udmurt Republic) with 1:22:55 rounded out the top three.

As for women, last year's success was repeated by Elvira Chepareva (Republic of Mordovia) with 1:27:45. Silver went to Reykhan Kagramanova (Republic of Mordovia, Kemerovo Region) with 1:29:15. Marina Novikova (Moscow), like a year ago, crossed the finish line third with 1:29:34.

Sergey Kozhevnikov (Republic of Mordovia) defended his last year's title in the men's 35 km walk with 2:27:16. This is the world’s season best. Sergey Kudashkin (Republic of Mordovia) crossed the finish line second with 2:28.56.  Nikolay Makimov (Republic of Mordovia) rounded out the top three with 2:29:51.

Klavdiya Afanasyeva (Republic of Mordovia) with 2:40:27 topped the world’s season best 35 km women’s results list. Last year's winner Margarita Nikiforova (Republic of Mordovia, Kemerovo Region) finished second this time, far behind with 2:47:57. Kristina Lyubushkina (Chelyabinsk Region) finished third in the final protocol with 2:51.05.

Maxim Denisov (Republic of Mordovia, 39:25) and Anastasia Podyachikh (Chelyabinsk Region, 44:06) became the best in the 10 km walk among U20 juniors. Evgeny Zhdakaev (Republic of Mordovia, 40:35) and Victoria Idashina (Republic of Mordovia, 46:06) finished next. Dmitry Muravyov (Republic of Mordovia, 41:35) and Alena Efremova (Republic of Mordovia, 46:53) rounded out the top three.

Among juniors U23 on a distance of 20 km of the All-Russian Walking Competitions, Danila Martynov (Republic of Mordovia, 1:21.56) and Alena Kolchina (Republic of Mordovia, 1:29.14) climbed to the highest step of the podium. Artem Selin (Chelyabinsk Region, 1:22.14) and Anastasia Trukhova (Republic of Mordovia, 1:33.29) finished second in the final protocols. Maxim Pyanzin (Republic of Mordovia, 1:22.49) and Elena Sborets (Chelyabinsk Region, 1:35.40) rounded out the top three.
